The corrections division of the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office maintains records of all inmates detained in the Tompkins County Jail. The division oversees the Tompkins County Jail and is responsible for inmate intake, booking, identification, and Classification. The Division maintains inmates and jail records in the form of case files, summary cards, and admission and discharge registers. These jail and inmate records are created after an arrest and updated if a case proceeds to sentencing. The majority of the inmate records are organised by inmate identification number, which roughly correlates to the date the convict was admitted to prison, rather than by inmate name.
